As a mid-sized international company, we are able to look back on 100 years’ experience. With our origins in the building industry, the Zech Group today focusses on a property’s entire value chain and hereby operates in three key business fields – building, real estate and hotel.
With their diverse projects, the associated and subsidiary companies of the business divisions define the townscapes of metropolitan regions such as Berlin, Düsseldorf, Cologne/Bonn, Frankfurt am Main, Hamburg, Munich and Vienna. In addition, the group is committed to using modern environmental technologies and is, with this, setting an example for sustainable land and urban development.
As a strategic management holding, the parent company coordinates the work of the three business divisions, develops the overall strategy and defines the global goals for the further development of the entire group. The Zech Group SE, meanwhile, has more than 9,000 employees.
Kurt Zech has been a managing partner since 1978 and chairman of the Zech Group SE since January 2020.
Olaf Demuth has been a member of management since March 2017 and a member of the executive board of the Zech Group SE since January 2020. He was previously a member of the executive board of Ed. Züblin AG where he worked for 10 years. Before joining Züblin, he worked for 18 years at STRABAG Hoch- und Ingenieurbau AG.
Rainer Eichholz has been a member of management since February 2013 and member of the executive board of the Zech Group SE since January 2020. He was previously board chairman of HOCHTIEF Solutions AG where he worked in the real estate division for 15 years.
Burkhard Schmidt has been a member of management since 2008 and a member of the executive board of the Zech Group SE since January 2020. Before joining the Zech Group, Mr Schmidt was a member of the executive board of Ed. Züblin AG and, prior to this, a member of the executive board of STRABAG Hoch- und Ingenieurbau AG. He worked for STRABAG AG for a total of 28 years.
Mr Harald Supper has been a member of the executive board of the Zech Group SE since January 2022. He was previously a member of the executive board of Ed. Züblin AG. He worked for Ed. Züblin AG for a total of 32 years.
Gustav Zech establishes a building company near Breslau (today Poland) with which he lays the foundation for the Zech Group.
A small trade company in Bremen represents a new beginning.
Kurt Zech takes over the business together with a partner and Kurt Zech GmbH is formed with headquarters in the Verdener Straße in Bremen
The company soon moves into bigger premises on the Funkschneise industrial park in Bremen-Hemelingen. Branches in Hamburg, Rostock and Pritzwalk and subsidiaries in Wuppertal and Paderborn follow. Zechbau develops into a company group which is today incorporated by the Zech Group SE.
With the building of the first ATLANTIC Hotel in Bremen-Vegesack and its opening in 1992, the foundation for today’s ATLANTIC Hotels Group is formed.
Deutsche Immobilien Holding AG (DIH) is established which incorporates the Zech Group’s property activities.
Phoenix Real Estate Development GmbH and Zech Immobilien GmbH form the DIH’s first property companies. At the same time, the company group expands its environmental and renovation division and, in doing so, forms the foundation for ZECH Umwelt.
With Deutsche Wohnwerte GmbH & Co. KG and die developer Projektentwicklung GmbH, further property companies are established and consolidated under the umbrella of DIH.
International business is developed further with the takeover of Hochtief do Brasil.
2010 to 2013
DIH continues to grow with the founding of Art-Invest Real Estate Management GmbH & Co. KG and DIE WOHNKOMPANIE.
2014 to the present day
New companies and takeovers, either through the Zech Group or its subsidiaries, ensure the company’s rapid growth.
Restructuring of company group and consolidation of the six divisions (Construction, Real Estate, Hotel, Environment & Technology, Industry and International & Consulting) in the three divisions Building, Real Estate and Hotel.
The company group changes its legal form to a joint stock company under European law, the Zech Group SE. Operative integration of the 16 insolvent subsidiaries of euromicron AG in the Technology division.
In autumn, Zech Group SE acquired 50 percent of the building construction subsidiaries of the Royal BAM Group. The acquired companies are renamed ZECH Hochbau, ZECH Facility Management and ZECH Sports. The companies with 750 employees, their references and their expertise complement the portfolio of Zech Group SE.
